2021_06_25 Don’t feel bad for celebrities

Sometimes I feel bad for celebrities. They have no privacy and always get harassed by fans and paparazzi. Sometimes I feel bad. Right now is not one of those times.
A couple weeks ago we talked about the David Bowie painting that was found near North Bay. It was estimated to sell for 9 to 12 thousand dollars at auction. It sold for $108,120.
Experts call this the ‘Hollywood effect’ when items sell for far more than what they’re worth just because they’re associated with someone famous.
Again… I don’t feel bad for any celebrities anymore! They could literally sneeze into a tissue and sell it for more than I make in a month.

ANISHINAABEMOWIN WORD OF THE WEEK:
Throughout Indigenous History Month, Mackenzie Jacobs has been joining the show to teach words and phrases from the Ojibwe language. Today we finished up the seven sacred teachings with courage or aakide’ewin

BITS AND BITES:
With the finding of 751 more unmarked graves near Regina I can’t imagine what Indigenous people are going through right now. If you need help or someone to talk to the Residential School Crisis Line is open 24/7 at 1-866-925-4419.

This Canada Day many Indigenous leaders are encouraging people to educate themselves instead of celebrate.  Patsy Corbiere, United Chiefs and Councils of Mnidoo Mnising (UCCMM) tribal chair, recommends reading the Truth and Reconciliation Commission which you can read for free here.
