Lying to police results in mischief charge

A 36-year-old Espanola woman is charged with public mischief for making a false report to local police.  Town police were told two employees of a property management firm let themselves into an apartment with a key while the tenant was away.  They left an eviction notice inside then locked the door.  Police learned there was an eviction notice, but it was posted on the outside and the employees never entered the apartment.  Also one of the employees was on Manitoulin when the alleged break-in was supposed to have occurred.  Instead of holding the employees accountable, police charged the neighbour after they determined she had lied to them.
