An Elliot Lake fire has caused extensive damage to a home.
Elliot Lake Fire Chief John Thomas says yesterday morning, shortly after 8:00, the department was called to a fire at 219 Mississauga Avenue.
He says crews had difficulty getting the fire under control and the damage is estimated at around $450,000.
Thomas adds there were no injuries reported, but the residents lost their family pet.
The cause is still under investigation.
Public Works is also asking the public near the site to run their cold water as discolouration may be happening due to the use of hydrants.
