A trustee with a local school board will represent Indigenous interests on a provincial board.
The Ontario Public School Boards’ Association announced at its annual general meeting this week that Elaine Johnston of Serpent River First Nation has been selected as the First Nation Director.
Johnston works with the Algoma District School Board as does Shery Evans who was appointed as regional chair for the North Region.
The school board chair Jennifer Salo will also continue in her role as the association’s northern trustee working with the Educator’s Program Work Group.
All three will serve one-year terms.
