Ontario Trillium Foundation upgrades Manitoulin Island parks

Construction is now getting underway for various upgrades in the Manitoulin area.

Earlier this year, the Town of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands received a $111,500 Resilient Communities Fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

Mayor Alan McNevin says the investment will allow the municipality to construct permanent washroom facilities at the Centennial Museum of Sheguiandah Park, along with providing enhancements to its current washroom facilities within its municipal parks, waterfront area and at the NEMI (NEM-ee) Recreation Centre.

He adds in addition to the construction at Sheguiandah Park, upgrades to the municipality’s recreational facilities will include the installation of touchless features such as hand sanitizing stations, touchless faucets and more to ensure proper covid safety protocols in the high traffic facilities.
