Two projects to help seniors in the Elliot Lake area

Two new projects are now up and running for seniors in the Elliot Lake area thanks to the Diversity Canada Foundation.

Foundation executive director Celia Sankar says the non-profit has launched two projects to help seniors get online and learn how to navigate it safely.

She says with COVID-19 and ongoing virtual access, it is important seniors learn how to become computer literate.

The second project, the Golden Guides and the Golden Years programs assists seniors in staying informed about local support programs and connecting them with their peers and community organizations, again through the internet.

She adds some training can be done in person in outdoor-safe settings as well as online. Both run until March 2022 thanks to funding from the feds.
