An Every Child Matters gathering is planned in Massey to pay respect to the 215 children found in unmarked graves at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School.
The gathering will be held in Massey today at the lights on Highway 17 where people can bring memorial shoes, teddy bears, candles and flowers as part of a memorial.
The event will run from 1 pm to 3 pm and include a moment of silence to acknowledge the children.
Organizers are also asking people to wear orange as part of the tribute.
COVID-19 protocols are in place including social distancing and wearing masks.
A memorial was set up yesterday at Espanola’s town office where flags are also flying at half-mast in respect of the children.
The public can add their tributes to that display as well.
