A Blind River resident is being inducted into the Great Northern Opry based in Sault Ste. Marie. Although Debbie Rivard won’t be inducted until this November, Blind River is starting the celebrations much earlier. This Saturday the Great Northern Opry is putting on a dance and show. The event, which features quite a few musicians, is already sold out. As a young girl Rivard sang in her church choir and got her first guitar at age 12. Then when she turned 15 Rivard sang and played guitar in Nashville. For the past 14 years she’s been a member of the group Women in Song which performs in the Blind River and Elliot Lake area.
