Fatal motor vehicle collision involving moose

OPP are calling on the public to be aware that deer and moose are on the move to their summer feeding grounds, following a fatal collision in the Parry Sound area.

OPP Constable Joe Scali says around 9 pm on Monday night officers and Britt Fire Department was called out to a collision on Highway 17 just north of Parry Sound.

He says a vehicle travelling southbound struck a moose left the roadway and rolled over.

The driver of the motor vehicle 56-year-old Josee Boisvert from Sudbury, Ontario sustained fatal injuries.

The passenger was transported to a nearby hospital, treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.
