It looks like having a second building inspector in Espanola is not a dead issue. Council is reconsidering the idea after first voting against it. The main reason for the reconsideration is the workload at the building department is expected to jump because the town is seeing two major school construction projects. Staff is recommending that council approve the second inspector. Once the large scale projects are finished and the workload drops, council can determine if there’s still a need for a second inspector.
