Sagamok-Anishnawbek FN draws together in unveiling

Members of the Sagamok-Anishnawbek First Nation drew together this weekend to unveil a billboard in their fight against opioid trafficking.

Charlene Ann Owl says the Prayer Walk and subsequent unveiling of a billboard were held in memory of her daughter, Charisse, who died from an opioid overdose in November.

She says the support of the community, Chief and Council was a vital part of unveiling the billboard which shares the message Life Mattered referring to the loss of her daughter.

Owl adds she will continue the fight and a $3,000 reward is in place for any information leading to the death of the daughter.

Owl says she also laid the tombstone at her daughter’s gravesite, the day after what would have been her daughter’s 29th birthday.
