Strike won't affect length of school year

The Rainbow school board has no plans to increase the length of the school year or school days to make up for five weeks of lost learning at the high school level.  Instead the board is cancelling exams and a professional development day set for next week on Friday and turning those days into learning time for students.  Also educators will be teaching students on a priority basis.  The strike by the high school teachers was deemed illegal by the Ontario Labour Relations Board at about the same time that the province introduced back-to-work legislation.
