Manitoulin OPP investigates armed robbery in Espanola

The investigation into an armed robbery in Espanola continues.

OPP Constable Bev Gauthier says last Friday around 4:00 pm, OPP, and Anishinabek Police Service officers responded to a robbery at an apartment complex on Park Street in Espanola.

The Manitoulin OPP Crime Unit is currently investigating the incident.

Any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible should immediately contact police or Crime Stoppers.

Blind River resident charged with assault

East Algoma OPP Constable Bev Gauthier says a Blind River resident has been charged after a heated exchange took place last Saturday night.

She says the assault took place on Woodward Avenue in the Town of Blind River shortly after 8:00 pm.

The complainant was seated in a vehicle when there was an exchange of words with the accused.

Police say the accused reached in through a vehicle window and struck the complainant on the right side of the face.

Gauthier says a 42-year-old from Blind River has been charged with assault and is to appear at Blind River court in May.
