Toronto man arrested for drug dealing in Wiikwemkoong

Wikwemikong Tribal Police has acted on the zero-tolerance drug policy implemented in the territory just a few short weeks ago.

Detective Sergeant Todd Fox says an 18-year-old man from Toronto was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and simple possession, as well as a violation of COVID-19 regulations on March 13th.

Fox says the man was then expelled from the community and escorted off Manitoulin Island by police.

He is to appear in Wiikwemkoong virtual court in May.

Fox extends a thank you to the community members who came forward to report the activity, especially in support of the zero-tolerance policy for illicit drugs within the First Nation jurisdiction.
