Wiikwemkoong Junior School vandalized – cleaned up by youth

The Wiikwemkoong Board of Education has investigated some serious vandalism at its local junior school.

According to a press release, the board says Monday morning at around 8:00 am the Wasse-abin  Junior School was found to have been vandalized.

The Wikwemikong Tribal Police quickly found the suspects, but since they are all young, they cannot be named under the Youth Justice Act.

Junior School principal Maureen Peltier says she is absolutely shocked at the level of destruction done to one of the kindergarten classrooms, but also confirmed the youth spent Tuesday cleaning the vandalized space.
At the end of the day, a sharing circle and smudge were held with the youth and they expressed remorse for their actions.
