MPP France Gélinas presents petition to ban Retirement Home PPE Charges

The fight to stop or prevent private long-term care facility owners from imposing PPE fees is continuing with a local MPP.

Nickel Belt MPP France Gélinas presented a petition to Queen’s Park yesterday to ban PPE charges in retirement homes.

She says Ontario seniors deserve respect and should not have to pay any additional COVID-related fees.

She adds residents of some Sudbury retirement homes have effectively organized letter-writing campaigns and actions to have these PPE charges to residents cancelled and recognized as a retirement home’s cost of doing business.

Gelinas will submit the petition to the clerk and a decision on whether to develop legislation prohibiting the practice is expected to brought forward during the Spring Session.
