Vaccines underway at NEMI centre

Mass vaccinations of the Pfizer vaccine began this weekend in Little Current at the Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands recreation complex.

The Manitoulin Health Centre has purchased an ultra-low freezer with the capacity to reach a temperature of -86 degrees Celsius to store the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines.

The freezer can store over 21,000 vaccines at a time.

The purchase price of approximately $12,000 was allocated from funds remaining in the Manitoulin ventilator campaign, which was originally initiated by M’Chigeeng First Nation Chief Linda Debassige.

2. and 3. People were lined up outside the NEMI recreation centre for their vaccination shots. The mass vaccination had a greeter, then a document check, then visitors were directed to the individual who would carry out the vaccination, then once the shot was given, the recipient received their sticker and an official record of their immunization. After the shot, recipients had to sit for 15 minutes to ensure no adverse reactions to the vaccine, then they were free to go. Photos by Rosalind Russell – myespanolanow.com staffer
