The Massey Agriculture Society’s second Free Food Giveaway was another success handing out over 60,000 pounds of food to over 300 vehicles on Saturday at the fairgrounds.
Society spokesperson Brian Channon says several agencies such as crisis centers, shelters, and food banks stretching from Elliot Lake to Sudbury were supplied with foodstuffs to fill their shelves.
There were well over 50 volunteers including MP Carol Hughes and several from the Mennonite community and North Shore corridor.
Channon says the giveaways were a way for partners to help those in need who have had difficulties through the pandemic and there could be possibly a third giveaway later in the year.
