Espanola Regional Hospital Continues with Vaccinations

Espanola‌ Regional Hospital & Health Centre has received a second supply of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Moderna vaccine was given to residents of the Espanola Nursing Home earlier in February and yesterday health care workers identified as the highest priority received their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
Both Moderna & Pfizer are given in two separate doses a few weeks apart.
A second clinic to vaccinate the remaining frontline staff will be held Saturday, February 27th.

Dr. Andre Michon remained onsite during the process to oversee this vaccination clinic,

“The facility setup provided excellent flow and was praised by public health. It all went smoothly, as we expected. There is a great amount of preparation & organizing that goes into the planning of these clinics and all staff involved should be commended”.

Jane Battistelli, Director of Clinical Services “ Our vaccination clinic was a true example of community collaboration. Health care partners from PHSD,  Espanola FHT and ERHHC came together to vaccinate our LTC staff, LTC essential caregivers, and the highest priority health care providers in our community. We are anticipating Saturday will bring the same dedicated team together to further the efforts in vaccinating our health care providers in the order of priority as outlined by the Ministry of Health.  Special thanks to the Espanola Senior’s Drop-In Centre for facilitating the clinic and assisting us in our efforts!”

The risk of COVID-19 outbreaks will be decreased among those who are at the greatest risk.

Community members are asked to be patient and understanding as rollout plans and timing must be flexible to coincide with the availability of vaccine supply.
