Murder trial of Blind River man underway

The trial of a Blind River man charged with the first degree murder of his father is underway.  Nineteen year old Ian Hammond was charged a day after his father was stabbed to death on March 15th, last year.  The court is trying to determine if Hammond can be held criminally responsible for his actions.  So far it’s heard lengthy testimony that Hammond was paranoid, suicidal and acting very strange.  Quite a few attempts were made to deal with his mental health issues before the stabbing.
