Northern Credit Union closes several branches

Northern Credit Union is closing several branches.

According to company president and CEO, Richard Adam, the decision to close seven smaller branches, three of which serve the local area will save money.

The local branches are in Little Current on Manitoulin Island, Iron Bridge and Richards Landing.

He says they will all be consolidated into bigger branches as digital and other online solutions prove effective in servicing members of all abilities.

The consolidation of the Iron Bridge location takes place May third while the other two will go through the process as of June first.

Leading up to the closure, the True North Hub, telephone support, and banking service center will operate with expanded hours, while in-branch staff will help transition members to their nearest branch.

Adam adds the decision helps support the continued long-term financial viability of the organization.
