Elliot Lake tries one more time to ice hockey team

Elliot Lake’s drive to ice an NOJHL hockey team isn’t dead yet.  Next Monday, city council’s finance committee will debate a report that shows how a non-profit team can make money.  The first step is for the city to put up $100,000 which buys a team and provides cash flow.  A proposed business plan has the team losing money each year but sponsorships would turn the losses into annual profits.  The business plan doesn’t include the $15,000 the Friends of the Bobcats would generate by selling team merchandise.  Elliot Lake council has until June 20th to let the league know if it wants a junior hockey team.
