Algoma Manitoulin gets $230,000 in NOHFC grants

Eight businesses and municipalities in Algoma Manitoulin are getting $230,000 from the Heritage Fund to bolster business.  The biggest grant goes to the M’Chigeeng First Nation to study the feasibility of assembling solar-powered generators.  Nearly $43,000 is headed to Billings Township on Manitoulin to enhance its waterfront so it can attract more tourists.  And Gordon-Barrie Island can study the feasibility of developing a business park after getting $33,000.   Meanwhile the Blind River Development Corporation gets two grants totaling about $33,000.  The money will study the feasibility of creating an RV park and if the town can host a chemical blending and distribution facility.
