Espanola council has again told Habitat for Humanity it can’t build a semi-detached home on Adelaide Street. That’s despite a lengthy presentation from the agency’s executive director, Lise Rheault. Habitat’s board now has to decide if it will appeal council’s decision to the Ontario Municipal Board. A major issue with the project is the proposed home is too big for the lot and that has area residents concerned. However homeowners don’t oppose a single-detached home. Habitat wants to build a semi instead of a single detached home to save on costs so that it has extra money for future builds. Habitat has to decide to either appeal council’s decision or look for another site where it can build a semi.
