No earthquakes in Sudbury

There were no earthquakes in Sudbury late last week, but Vale is investigating seismic events at one of their mines.

Vale spokesperson Danica Pagnutti says many people thought there was an earthquake on Friday evening, but that was not the case.

She says the tremors were attributed to seismic events at the Creighton Mine in the Lively area with the first at around 9:10 pm, the second at 10:30 pm on Friday night.

She adds the two measured 3.2 on the Richter scale, 3.7 for the second and the cause is unknown.

Pagnutti adds the day shift was cancelled at the mine while the investigation continues.
