Reporting error blamed for report of COVID-19 at Sudbury school

Two cases of COVID-19 at Pius the (XLL) Twelfth Catholic Elementary School in Sudbury were erroneously reported to the Ontario government this week.

Sudbury Catholic District School Board superintendent Nicole Bédard says a parent reported to the principal on Tuesday that two students had tested positive for COVID-19 over the holidays, but the children were not at school when they tested positive and have not returned to school.

She says the two cases should not have been reported to the government as school-related.

She says the board notified the province of the error after the Ontario government reported it publicly on the provincial website, which is dedicated to schools with recent cases.
