COVID-19 update for Algoma, Sudbury, and Manitoulin

There has been another jump in cases of COVID-19 according to Public Health Sudbury & Districts.

The agency is reporting 46 active cases of the virus, 14 in the Greater Sudbury area and three new cases in the Manitoulin District.

Sixteen are self-isolating, but there has been one hospital admission.

An outbreak has also been declared by Algoma Public Health at Great Northern Retirement Home in Sault Ste. Marie following confirmation of COVID in one staff member.

The health unit says the staff member remains in isolation to prevent further transmission and that preventative actions are being taken to protect staff and residents.

There are 44 active cases in the Algoma District.

Algoma Public Health is reporting six new cases of COVID-19 from Sault Ste. Marie and area.

All considered close contact, except for one, and all are in self-isolation.
