A youth from Espanola went through the ice on Sunday but fortunately for him, two men from Spanish were able to save his life.
David Rittberg and Kingsley Cavanagh were out on the ice in Vance’s Bay when they spotted two fishermen on snowmachines when one broke through the ice.
Rittberg says the two of them made a rope out of their sweatshirts and jackets and were able to get the youth out of the icy water, onto a sled and to the hospital where he was treated for hypothermia.
Rittberg adds he hopes everyone enjoys the winter season while sledding safely.
