Boil water advisory in place in Westhill area of Elliot Lake

Residents in the Westhill area of Elliot Lake will continue having a boil water advisory in place, but the city is looking at solutions to the problem.

Public Works Manager Darryl Halloch says back in early October, they flushed the lines and discovered the Westhill area’s chlorine residual was below acceptable safe levels.

He says after consulting with Algoma Public Health and the Ministry of the Environment, the boil water advisory was put in place on October 6th.

He adds they continue testing the water and will be installing an auto flusher to keep the water fresh, but the advisory will remain in place until a more permanent solution is found.
