The Manitoulin Health Centre has received a bequest from the estate of the late Alvin Ross of Espanola.
The centre received the first instalment of $370,000 earlier this month and at the request of the Ross family, those funds will be directed to the Little Current site.
Alvin’s parents, John and Lillian spent many decades on Manitoulin Island where John worked as an OPP officer.
Alvin’s sister, Waveline, was also a nurse at the centre for most of her career while he worked for Manitoulin Transport through the decades.
Alvin’s family members died over the last few years and he spent most of the intervening years at his Espanola home until his passing in May of 2019.
The hospital’s board of directors thanked the family for their generosity.
