Survey for senior and affordable housing in Espanola

Time is of the essence in getting the results of a housing survey looking for input from Espanola seniors and others about the need to turn the former AB Ellis Public School into apartments for seniors and singles.

Fred Yackman, a member of the newly formed Rainbow Community Non-Profit Housing Corporation says a feasibility study is now underway to try and save the school for demolition and convert it into housing.

He says as part of that study, a survey is now being carried out confirming to funders there is enough demand to justify converting the building and to also help designers understand individual housing needs.

Yackman says the building could be vacated by March, so time is important in getting the survey done and resulted compiled for the final report.
