Province releases Transportation Plan for Northern Ontario

Busing in Elliot Lake, continuing the work on the Swing Bridge in Little Current and widening Highway 69 are just some of the details released by the Ontario government in its Transportation Plan for Northern Ontario

The government states it will continue to provide supportive funding for local transportation services through the Ontario Gas Tax Program.

As an example, they pointed out Elliot Lake benefited from the program receiving more than $90,000 for the purchase of three conventional transit buses.

The plan also includes moving into phase two focusing on the Swing Bridge completing planning, preliminary design and an Environmental Assessment by next fall.

The work will also continue on the design and construction for Highway 69 from two to four lanes.
