The Municipality of Huron Shore is the first community in the region to issue a fire ban. The ban an open burning is now in effect and means permits for burning things like grass and wood debris are suspended. Also no new permits will be issued under the prohibition. The ban remains in effect until further notice. One thing that’s still allowed is small fires for cooking and warmth. However the municipality is asking people who light this type of fire not to leave it alone and ensure you have enough water to put it out when you’re done.
