You gave and students are grateful

Giving Tuesday turned out to be a great initiative for Cambrian College in the Sudbury and Manitoulin districts.

Director of development and alumni at the college, Brandi Brathwaite, says the college received donations totally just over $83,500 as part of its Giving Tuesday campaign this week.

Brathwaite says they are overwhelmed by the show of support with the funds going towards hardship bursaries for students and the college’s Student Foodbank.

Cambrian’s main campus and its two satellites in Little Current and Espanola were involved with the initiative.
“This has been an extraordinary year for everyone and an especially difficult one for a lot of our students. They rely on those traditional part-time jobs that just are not there this year. But thanks to the amazing kindness of our community, we have exceeded our boldest expectations and we are helping ease that burden on the students during this pandemic,” adds Braithwaite.
Cambrian’s efforts were also bolstered by the support of several corporate partners and community leaders who chose to match funds being donated.
“I really want to thank all of the businesses and individuals that ensured our Giving Tuesday was a success,” adds Brathwaite. “We have an amazing community of former graduates and business leaders who are truly making a difference this year. We’re fortunate to have them as part of the Cambrian family.” The businesses and individuals that supported Cambrian College for Giving Tuesday 2020 include:

  • Lopes Limited
  • Ionic Mechatronics
  • Crosstown Chevrolet’s Vince Pollesel and Cambrian alumnus Steve Jacklin
  • Mario Grossi
  • Pioneer Construction and Fisher Wavy
  • Milman Industries
  • Stephane and Michelle Cloutier.
