A 23-year-old woman from Sagamok faces charges for cashing a cheque worth almost $2,000. The woman bought some groceries with the cheque, and got the remainder back in cash. A few days later the Espanola store learned the cheque was a fake and called police. Because the woman signed the cheque and showed identification to the store clerk, police had an easy time finding her. She’s charged with fraud under $5,000, uttering a forged document and false pretences.
