People in Elliot Lake will see a return to pre-COVID-19 busing schedules following approval by city council.
Last night, council agreed to return to regular scheduled hours on Thursday and Friday evenings starting in December.
Council also agreed to the start-up of a Sunday transit service starting in December.
A new bus stop is to be installed on Horne Walk in the lower plaza with two new businesses opening in the area.
Signage will be installed, and depending on use, a bus shelter will be considered in the future.
Council also agreed to launch the new app “Where’s my Bus” in the new year.
All the buses have plexiglass barriers installed and riders must follow COVID-19 protocols.
Tthe City of Elliot Lake purchased a software program called GOGPS that tracks the current location of each transit bus in operation.
Recently it was discovered that with the purchase of the GOGPS software is an application called ‘Where’s my Bus’ that the City hasn’t been utilizing, which when activated, allows the transit passengers to access the app with their phone or home computer, to verify the location of their bus and determine whether it’s on time or delayed.
