Construction of a CAT Scanner at St. Joseph’s General Hospital is moving ahead.
Hospital CEO Pierre Ozolins says the hospital and St. Joseph’s Foundation received final approval from the Ontario Ministry of Health to purchase the new Canon Aquilon Prime CT Scanner and to award the contract for construction and installation of the new equipment.
He says preparation of the site where the scanner will be located has already begun with the scanner itself expected to arrive in mid-December.
Ozolins adds if the process runs smoothly, the scanner could be ready to serve patients by mid-January eliminating the need for travel to Sault Ste. Marie or Sudbury.
