Are you ready for an evacuation or emergency?

The River Road Neighbourhood Watch has teamed up with the Township of Sables-Spanish Rivers and the Manitoulin OPP to bring programs and useful information to residents to advocate for safety and provide vital information to the public.

Watch coordinator, Bill McKenna, says as part of their program an emergency kit has been put together for people to deal with an emergency or evacuation.

He says he put together a kit weighing about 35 kilograms includes lots of water, 18 meals, a hand-cranked or battery-operated radio, first aid kit and other vital items.

He says with the pandemic, it is important to be prepared for any emergency and the kit is one way to ensure individuals are prepared.
