Disturbance involves a crossbow, machete and pistol

A disturbance in Spanish involving a variety of weapons has led to the arrest of three individuals by East Algoma OPP.

OPP Constable Phil Young says police responded to a disturbance related call on Colonization Road in Spanish last Tuesday evening.

He says the investigation revealed different people from different residences were involved in an argument, which escalated when a machete, crossbow and pistol were brandished.

Young says several threats were made and assault took place.

He says three men, all from Spanish face various assault and weapons charges.

He adds they are to appear in Blind River court on November 5th.

  • Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Assault with a Weapon, contrary to section 267(a) of the CC,
  • Handle Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition in a Careless Manner, contrary to section 86(1) of the CC.

 

A 64-year-old was charged with:

  • Assault, contrary to section 266 of the CC,
  • Causing a Disturbance – Non-Occupant, contrary to section 175(1)(d) of the CC.

 

A 32-year-old was charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon, contrary to section 267(a) of the CC,
  • Causing a Disturbance – Non-Occupant, contrary to section 175(1)(d) of the CC.
