The investigation into a fatal accident is being carried out by the Manitoulin OPP.
Manitoulin OPP Constable Renee Lalonde says police, fire and emergency services were called out to a single motor-vehicle collision on Highway 17 between Webbwood and Espanola just before 5:00 pm last night.
Lalonde says one person was pronounced deceased and two others were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
She adds the investigation revealed the vehicle had left the roadway with two other people, the driver and one other sustaining minor injuries.
Lalonde says the highway was closed for several hours while the investigation was carried out.
She adds if anyone has any information, they are asked to call the OPP.
