Swayze to be asked to return as city Integrity Commissioner

The City of Elliot Lake will be asking one of its former Integrity Commissioners to return in that capacity following a motion by Councillor Chris Patrie.

Patrie tabled the motion stating that Tony Fleming of the Kingston law Firm, Cunningham Swan, should be removed as the I.C. because the firm is doing other business with the city.

CAO Daniel Gagnon countered that stating different firms on retainer deal with different matters with the city, but did agree that there could be a public perception of conflict of interest.

Patrie also asked that council ask former commissioner Robert Swayze of Alton to return to the position.

Council agreed, passing the motion and now a letter of request will be sent to Swayze for his consideration.
