Road reconstruction a priority – i.e. Espanola

Espanola council has given the go-ahead for Polly Investments to rebuild the Queensway Motel and a new six-unit mini-mall on its property at the intersection of the Queensway Avenue and Highway Six.
The draft site plan includes a design to build the new entrance further down the road, but council did have some concerns about possible increased traffic congestion.
Council did discuss a redesign and possible traffic lights at the busy intersection.
On Friday, the feds and Ontario government issued a release for municipalities to apply for funding for road reconstruction.
Town CAO Cynthia Townsend told The Moose she will be discussing the application with council and they will apply for the reconstruction of Highway 6- Centre Street from McDonalds to Second Avenue.
She says their concerns about possible traffic congestion will be addressed in the application.
