The mayor of Moosonee is up on anti-rackets charges. Victor Mitchell was charged after money from the Ministry of Aboriginal Affairs was misappropriated three years ago. The 51-year-old is charged with theft over five thousand dollars by misappropriation and theft over five thousand by conversion of money. The money from Aboriginal Affairs was to build a new native friendship centre in the town. OPP have not said how much money was misappropriated.
