Airport, road and bridge repair projects underway in the North

The governments of Ontario and Canada have announced over $23-million dollars will be invested in 12
projects in Northern Ontario.
The announcements were made in a Zoom meeting yesterday morning with local leaders in attendance.
Nairn & Hyman Township CAO Belinda Ketchabaw says $3.7-million will allow the community to widen and resurface nearly two kilometres of Old Nairn Road, improving business access and safety.
Gore Bay Mayor Dan Osborne is pleased to see nearly $4-million invested in improvements at the Gore
Bay Manitoulin Airport including a new air terminal, helipad, expansion of the secondary runway, and
enhancements to security and wildlife fencing.
Sheshegwaning First Nation Chief Dean Roy says just over $1-million will go towards realigning and upgrading two main roadways including realigning Sheshegwaning Road to get rid of dangerous hairpin turns resulting in greater safety for motorists.
Nearly $2-million dollars in funding will go towards the replacement of the Lakeview Bridge in Laird Township, replacing it with a new, single-span structure with safety guide rails to improve safety.
Other projects were also announced in Thessalon, Atikokan, Chapple, Wawa, Hornepayne, Kapuskasing,
White River and Smooth Rock Falls.
