OPP warrant results in drug seizure in Elliot Lake

East Algoma OPP seized thousands in illicit drugs acting on a warrant in Elliot Lake.
OPP Constable Phil young says shortly before noon yesterday, officers executed a warrant on a
residence on Hutchinson Street.
He says police seized suspected cocaine, fentanyl, psilocybin, (sigh-loo-sigh-bin), $1,400 in Canadian
money, $8,500 in counterfeit American money, numerous cell phones and a pellet gun.
Psilocybin (sigh-loo-sigh-bin) is a psychedelic drug made from mushrooms.
The estimated street value of the drugs seized is over $122,000.
A 29-year-old man from Elliot Lake was arrested and charged with a range of five possession charges.
The charges are as follows:
· Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine, contrary to section
5(2) of the CDSA,
· Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin),
contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
· Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Other Drugs, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA,
· Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order, contrary to section
117.01(1) of the Criminal Code (CC),
· Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000, contrary to section
354(1)(a) of the CC,
· Possessing Counterfeit Money – have in custody, contrary to section 450(b) of the CC.
