Manitoulin OPP has arrested a former local resident with theft of a vehicle and break and enter charges.
Constable Wendy Forcier says police were called out to a residence in Whitefish Falls around 4:30 Sunday morning.
She says they were responding to a 911 call from a resident.
The investigation revealed the man had forced his way into the residence and demanded the keys to the resident’s vehicle before fleeing the scene.
Forcier says officers spotted a vehicle matching the description of the stolen car travelling north on Highway Six towards Espanola.
A spike belt was deployed, but the driver continued.
However, she says, police eventually located the vehicle parked in Espanola and the suspect surrendered.
A 37-year-old Pickering, Ontario man has been charged with theft over $5,000, break and enter and driving under suspension.
He is to appear in Espanola Court August 10th.
