Manitoulin OPP assists with disposal of explosives

Webbwood residents may have wondered what the loud bang was Sunday night.
Manitoulin OPP Constable Wendy Forcier says on Sunday at around 4:00 pm police responded to a call
in Webbwood.
She says the owner of the residence located what they believed to be three tube explosives on their
property some distance from their residence.
Police learned that the caller moved to the property in February, and upon discovering the items,
immediately called police out of an abundance of caution.
The OPP secured the area and called in the Explosives Disposal Unit, which completed the successful
disposal of the items around 11:30 pm.
The ensuing detonation was commented on by several surrounding neighbours on social media.
Forcier reminds the public if they happen upon items they believe may be related to dynamite,
detonators or explosives, no matter how old, they should not touch them but rather secure the area and
immediately contact their local police or OPP to assist.
