Espanola council approves having fire signage installed on Highway Six

New fire signage will be placed in a highly visible location on Highway Six in Espanola.

The new Espanola fire hall was built last summer, but with that construction, the signage which informs the public of the level of fire danger or if a fire ban is in place was removed and there is no room for it on the site.

Espanola Fire Chief Mike Pichor asked council to consider having not one, but two signs installed on Highway Six across from Tim Hortons, so motorists would see it from both directions.

It was noted it is also beneficial for tourists and campers planning to stay in the area.

Council agreed and unanimously approved the motion.

The new signage is expected to be installed within the next few weeks.
