Wiikwemkoong is the latest First Nation to lifts its travel restriction and checkpoints.
Chief and council removed the restrictions Monday at midnight following a special council meeting
earlier in the day.
Chief Duke Peltier added the checkpoint located along Wiikwemkoong Way can easily be re-installed if
there is a second outbreak.
Council is encouraging community members not to travel outside the Sudbury or Manitoulin
districts and also to continue following COVID-19 protocols.
M’Chigeeng First Nation also removed their travel ban and checkpoint on Monday.
