A Southern Ontario man trying to raise awareness about mental health and sexual abuse will be passing along the North Shore during July. Paulie O’Byrne says he was sexually assaulted as a boy by the former president of his local hockey association years ago. O’Byrne says the incident sent him on a downward spiral. However on May 1st, the 30-year-old begins walking from B-C to St. John’s Newfoundland and he’ll be stopping in hundreds of communities. His goal is to raise $1 million for mental health and sexual abuse victims. O’Byrne will be stick handling with a hockey stick and ball to recognize the sport he once played.
